Death Valley - April 2023
Badwater Basin

When looking at side trips to make on this visit, Ernie looked into Great Basin and Death Valley National Parks. Because of snow closing the upper road and flooding closing the lower road at Great Basin we were not able to include that destination on this visit. The first place in Death Valley that Ernie decided we should include in the visit to Death Valley is Badwater Basin, then he selected other sites on the way to Badwater Basin.

Badwater Basin is the lowest point in the North America, 282 feet below sea level. It is an expansive salt flat.

We talked with two men that took our picture and Dale took theirs. They were visiting the area and staying in Las Vegas. They wanted a picture of themselves to show their wives when they got back to the hotel to show they were actually at Death Valley and not playing golf again. They said their wives were not interested in leaving the hotel and would rather spend their time at the pool and casino.
