We had another great breakfast at Duke's Canoe Club.
We walked back to the hotel to wait for the shuttle to bring us to Hanauma Bay. When the shuttle was more than ½ hour late, Dale called to find what the problem was. She was told that they had us scheduled for the next day. They sent another shuttle for us, so we started a little more than an hour later than we had planned. It worked out fine as we still had plenty of time to enjoy the beach at Hanauma Bay.
We had a wonderful time at the beach swimming and relaxing. We watched some mongooses playing around the trash barrels, they were fun to watch. There was an over-population of rats on Oahu, mongooses were brought in to rid the island of the rats. Now they have a large mongoose population. Snorkling gear was provided and Ernie did a little, but he had a very hard time making a tight enough seal to prevent water getting into his mouth. On another trip Ernie attempted to snorkel again with his own equipment and had the same problem. Dale mentioned this to her dental hygenist who is familiar with some extensive dental work Ernie had done. Before Dale was able to finish the story the hygentist finished it for her with the fact that Ernie was not able to get a seal on the snorkel. She told Dale that this was something that can happen when this type of dental work is done.
We had arranged for the shuttle driver to pick us up at a time that would allow us to clean up and relax before going out for dinner. We had an excellent dinner at Duke's Canoe Club, then we enjoyed wandering around Waikiki. (Pictures)
