We again were tendered to shore from the ship. This time there were no delays nor bothersome people.
We elected to do the "Atlantis Submarine Dive" excursion in Kona. We had been on other reef-viewing excursions: glass-bottom boat and semi-submersible which did not submerge you went below deck to view the reef through windows in the side. We had also done a helmet dive that we went about 20 feet below sea and were at a spot in Death valley that was 100 feet below sea level. This excursion was to be on an actual submarine going to at least a 100-ft depth, the deepest the depth meter showed was 114 ft. We had an enjoyable boat ride to and from the submarine and once on the submarine and submerged we saw a lot of fish and two sunken ships. There were SCUBA divers examining one of the wrecks. The inside of the submarine was lit by blue lights, this effected the clarity of the pictures taken through the portholes. We fooled around with the brightness/contrast and hue/saturation of a few pictures, hopefully you will get an idea of what we saw. We found this to be a really enjoyable excursion. ( Pictures)
